About these terms#
These Terms & Conditions ("Terms") are an agreement between you and BoardEdge ("BoardEdge", "we", "us") and apply whenever you use the BoardEdge website and app (the "Service"). Our Privacy Policy explains how we handle your personal data and forms part of these Terms.
By creating an account or using the Service, you agree to these Terms. If you don't agree, please don't use BoardEdge.
Who can use BoardEdge#
- BoardEdge is designed for students preparing for ICSE (CISCE) examinations, and for their parents, guardians and teachers.
- If you are under 18, you may use BoardEdge only with the consent of your parent or lawful guardian, who agrees to these Terms and the Privacy Policy on your behalf and is responsible for your use of the Service. You must give us your parent's or guardian's real email address; answers are not graded until they confirm consent through the link we send them, and grading pauses if they withdraw it. Giving someone else's address, or confirming on your parent's behalf, breaks these Terms.
- You must give accurate information when you sign up, and keep it up to date.
Your account#
- You're responsible for keeping your password safe and for everything that happens under your account.
- One account per person. Don't share your account, sell it, or let someone else use it.
- Tell us straight away at contact.boardedge@gmail.com if you think someone else has accessed your account.
- You can delete your account at any time from the Account page.
What BoardEdge does — and doesn't#
BoardEdge grades your answers to past ICSE questions against the marking schemes we hold for them. Objective questions are checked automatically; written answers are graded by an AI model (Claude, provided by Anthropic) instructed to follow the marking scheme.
BoardEdge is an independent platform and is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or connected to CISCE. ICSE and CISCE are trademarks of the Council for the Indian School Certificate Examinations.
Credits and fair use#
- Each evaluation uses credits, and free accounts get a limited number of credits each week. The current limits and costs are shown in the app and may change.
- Credits have no cash value and can't be transferred, sold, or exchanged.
- If an evaluation fails because of an error on our side, we return the credits it used.
- We don't currently charge for BoardEdge. If we introduce paid features, we'll show you the price and terms before you pay for anything.
Acceptable use#
When using BoardEdge, you agree not to:
- Try to manipulate the grading — for example, by writing instructions to the AI in your answer instead of answering the question.
- Use scripts, bots or automated tools to access the Service, submit answers, or collect questions, marking schemes, or model answers.
- Try to get around credit limits, for example by creating multiple accounts.
- Probe, scan or test the security of the Service, or interfere with its operation, without our written permission.
- Copy, republish, or sell BoardEdge's content, marking data, or AI-generated feedback.
- Submit anything unlawful, abusive, or that includes other people's personal information.
- Use BoardEdge to cheat in any examination or assessment.
We may suspend or close accounts that break these rules.
Your content#
- Your answers and feedback belong to you.
- You give BoardEdge permission to store, process, and display your answers in order to grade them, show you your history, and run and improve the Service — including sending written answers to our AI provider for grading, as described in the Privacy Policy.
- This permission ends when you delete your content or your account, except for information we're required to keep by law, or usage statistics that no longer identify you.
Our content#
The BoardEdge app, design, software, question organisation, and the feedback it generates are owned by BoardEdge or its licensors. Past-paper questions and marking schemes remain the property of their respective owners and are used for educational purposes. We give you a personal, non-transferable, non-commercial right to use the Service for your own study, and nothing more.
Availability and changes to the Service#
We work to keep BoardEdge running and accurate, but we can't promise it will always be available, error-free, or cover every subject, year or question. We may add, change or remove features, subjects, or question sets at any time.
Ending your use#
You can stop using BoardEdge and delete your account whenever you like. We may suspend or close your account if you break these Terms, if we're required to by law, or if we stop offering the Service. Where reasonable, we'll let you know first.
Disclaimers and liability#
- The Service is provided "as is" and "as available". To the fullest extent the law allows, we make no guarantees about the accuracy of marks, feedback, or model answers, or about any examination outcome.
- To the fullest extent the law allows, BoardEdge is not liable for indirect or consequential losses, or for decisions made based on AI-generated feedback.
- Nothing in these Terms limits any rights you have under Indian consumer protection law that can't be limited by contract.
Changes to these terms#
When we change these Terms, we'll update the version number and "Last updated" date at the top of this page. If the change is significant, we'll tell you in the app or by email, and may ask you to agree again. If you keep using BoardEdge after a change takes effect, the updated Terms apply.
Governing law and disputes#
These Terms are governed by the laws of India. Please contact us first so we can try to resolve any concern informally. If that doesn't work, disputes will be subject to the jurisdiction of the courts of India.
